Michael Douglas` libido has finally calmed down
The 65-year-old is renowned for his womanising ways, and is even said to have battled sex addiction in the past. He is now blissfully happy with his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, and says having two children later in life helped him want to settle down.
"I`m probably more comfortable with myself now, probably not leading with my libido quite as strongly, which comes with age and happiness," he explained. "I`ve probably calmed down. It`s interesting when you have kids [at my age] because you?re kind of betwixt and between. Some of your friends, the only kids they`ve got are grandchildren."
Michael and Catherine, 40, dated for two years before marrying in 2000, and have son Dylan, nine, and six-year-old Carys together. The actor was rethinking the way he was living his life when he met Catherine, and felt ready to focus on something other than himself.
"I would say definitely around the time I married Catherine I started making some conscious decisions and prioritising," he told Esquire magazine. "As little children entered the equation - with a bride, an actress, 25 years younger, in her prime - the important part became them."
Michael`s 31-year-old son Cameron, from his marriage to Diandra Luker, is currently waiting to be sentenced after he admitted heroin possession and conspiracy to distribute drugs. The charges carry a minimum 10-year sentence, and Michael admits the situation is hard to deal with.
He has previously said he worries he wasn`t a good enough father to Cameron, and is still struggling to come to terms with his son`s situation. "It`s an ongoing problem. But substance abuse has been a big problem in different areas of our family. I lost a brother five years ago," he told the publication. "So it`s terribly sad and a difficult situation. But anybody who has family or friends who have been involved in substance abuse knows what a nightmare situation it and how much pain it causes."
